A professional who teaches CPR procedures to groups and individuals. As a independent contractor, will be self-employed and working separately from an organization allowing you to set your own class prices and have more flexibility in your schedule. AHA BLS Instructors teach Basic Life Support to those in the healthcare field or those wanting to pursue a career in the healthcare industry. They are also qualified to teach other AHA classes such as Heartsaver First Aid, CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. Heartsaver classes are designed for people who need training for their jobs and who are not in the healthcare industry such as daycare workers, fitness instructors, or those who need to complete OSHA requirements. The BLS Instructor course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA BLS Provider and Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED courses. Instructor candidates learn how to use AHA Instructor teaching material, ensure that students meet learning objectives, offer student coaching skills, provide an objective skill performance evaluation, and follow AHA Instructor and course policies.
CANDIDATES WHO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE REQUIREMENTS WILL RECEIVE AN AHA BLS INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION, VALID FOR 2 YEARS.
ALL INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATES MUST COMPLETE A CLASS MONITOR SESSION WITH TRAINING CENTER FACULTY WITHIN 90 DAYS OF ALIGNMENT.
INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATES MUST HAVE AHA COMPLIANT EQUIPMENT INCLUDING MANIKINS, AED TRAINER, BVM AND COURSE VIDEOS TO TEACH A COURSE FOR THE MONITOR SESSION.
DURING THE MONITOR SESSION INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED ON SEVERAL KEY COMPETENCIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
UPON SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETION OF THE MONITORING SESSION, THE INSTRUCTOR WILL RECEIVE THEIR INSTRUCTOR CARD. SHOULD REMEDIATION BE REQUIRED, A NEW MONITOR SESSION MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN THE 90 DAYS OF ALIGNMENT.
